Brown’s Portable Machining & Welding out of Edmonton, Alberta, utilizes eight (8) CLIMAX BB5000 Line Boring setups to refurbish two 64-yard (58.5-meter) buckets from a Caterpillar 7495 electric rope shovel in Fort McMurray. These buckets have 24 bores and require 13 to 14 setups to re-machine everything, with several bores requiring facing, ranging from 4 to 11 inches (101.6 to 279.4 mm).
For onsite machining, we have the capacity to machine two buckets at once with five BB5000 kits and a large quantity of almost sixty (60) BB5000 bearings. We are also expanding with a new 16,000 sq ft full CNC machine shop to support our customers,” Scott Brown.
