FF6300 used to machine a cylinder

The stuffing box of a gas turbine had some damage to its cylindrical part of 1,085 mm (42.7″) diameter. Instead of transporting that part to the capital (1,000 km away) and machining it on a vertical lathe, the power plant decided to have it machined on-site. MBK EIRL (www.vendo.com.pe) has several CLIMAX machines, among them flange facers up to 200″ in diameter. In this case, a special tool holder was designed and manufactured to be used with an FF6300 Flange Facer to machine those difficult-to-reach areas. The entire job was done on-site in less than 2 hours to the customer’s full satisfaction since the transport of that box would have taken much more time than the time it would have taken to arrive at their site… CLIMAX machines are very versatile and adaptable, and with some imagination, the most difficult jobs can be done in a fraction of the time.
