CLIMAX AFC Turned into Portable Lathe for Journal Repair

Peninsula Iron Works had a challenging repair project come in that needed an unusual solution to perform the repair. Because of the part size, we had no way of putting it in a lathe for the required journal repair. After talking with the applications team at CLIMAX, we decided to give the AFC a shot at performing turning work on a tight tolerance journal. With the addition of axial slide assembly and some custom tooling, we successfully machined the journal on this part within a .003″ tolerance. We couldn’t have done it without the CLIMAX team and their awesome equipment.
